LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Two Lubbock museums will offer free admission to active duty military personnel and their families this summer through the Blue Star Museums program.
The Buddy Holly Center and the Silent Wings Museum will participate in the program from Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 16, 2026, through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
The program is a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and more than 2,000 museums across America.
Free admission is available to those currently serving in the United States Military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Reservists and National Guard members. The program also covers the U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps and NOAA Commissioned Corps.
Up to five family members can accompany the service member. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card, DD Form 1173 ID card or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance. The active duty member does not have to be present for family members to use the program.
