FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne FC remains unbeaten at the new Ruoff Mortage Stadium, but the club couldn’t earn all three points in a 1-1 draw to last place Corpus Christi FC on Wednesday.
With the match scoreless at halftime, Fort Wayne captain Tiago Dias headed in his first professional goal off a corner kick in the 50th minute. Corpus Christi climbed back with Alexis Cerritos scoring an equalizer in the 64th minute.
Fort Wayne had several chances to regain the lead in the final minutes. Corpus Christi played the final 18 minutes of the match with 10 men after Arthur Medina was sent off for receiving two yellow cards in the match. Jack Thomas nearly put the hosts in front in stoppage time, but his last-minute shot bounced off the crossbar without completely crossing the goal line.
Fort Wayne FC (4-4-2) visits Athletic Club Boise on Saturday, with that match starting at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
