LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD/Gray News) – A Lubbock police officer and firefighter are facing charges for falsifying records.
According to Lubbock authorities, Officer April Mora has been arrested and charged with four counts of falsifying a child’s birth certificate.
Lubbock Fire Rescue Firefighter Jonathan Forkner was also arrested this week on charges of falsifying a record for a birth and/or death certificate, authorities said.
Mora is currently on unpaid administrative leave. During an administrative investigation, Lubbock Police Chief Seth Herman said the special crimes unit was made aware of an allegation against Mora of falsifying her child’s birth certificate.
Lubbock Fire Rescue said it takes alleged criminal conduct by its employees seriously and holds all personnel to the highest standard of conduct.
Additionally, Forkner was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
Mora and Fulkner were booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Officials said any actions inconsistent with the department’s mission and values would not be tolerated.
