EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Downtown El Paso is set to “turn up the volume” this summer with a new free monthly concert series bringing live music, dancing, and community celebration to San Jacinto Plaza.

The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department is launching Party on the Plaza, a series of free concerts.

The series begins on Thursday and will continue monthly through October with different music styles each month, including salsa, mariachi, country, cumbia, jazz, and DJs.

“This series is all about creating an electric atmosphere downtown,” City of El Paso Quality of Life Managing Director Ben Fyffe said. “As El Paso continues to draw major musical acts, Party on the Plaza gives our local artists a dynamic stage to shine while bringing the community together.”

Each event starts at 5 p.m. with live DJ sets, followed by headlining performances at 6:30 p.m.

The concert lineup includes:

May 21: Salsa Night, featuring Team HavanaJune 18: Noche de Mariachi, featuring Mariachi AlegreJuly 16: Country Night, featuring Fair PointAug. 20: Cumbia NightSept. 17: Jazz NightOct. 15: DJ Night

According to the city, Party on the Plaza is part of the Third Thursdays series, in which Downtown Arts District venues stay open late and offer special programming to create a walkable cultural experience each month.
