Texas A&M starting quarterback Marcel Reed performed like one of the best signal callers in the country over the past nine weeks, already racking up 1,972 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, coupled with 349 rushing yards and six scores, which has made him a Heisman Trophy contender during his first full starting season.

The Aggies currently sit at 8-0 and 5-0 in SEC play, and thanks to a balanced offensive attack, paried with a pass rush that has generated 32 sacks, which currently leads the nation, Marcel Reed’s dual-threat skill set was on full display this month, as the redshirt sophomore produced 734 and eight touchdowns through the air, 230 rushing yards and five touchdowns, resulting in a perfect 4-0 record in October.

After his four-touchdown performance during Saturday’s 49-25 blowout road win over LSU, Marcel Reed earned On3/Rivals writer Chris Low’s”best player” award during the October slate, as the Aggies enter the Week 10 bye with a ton of momentum before facing No. 19 Missouri on the road next Saturday afternoon.

With four games left in the regular season, the Aggies are on pace to finish undefeated if this level of play continues. In contrast, Missouri and the season finale matchup vs. Texas are the only road games left on the schedule, with home games against South Carolina and Samford, where the Aggies are heavy favorites.

For the Aggies to make the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, two more wins guarantee a bid, but to finish undefeated, Marcel Reed will need to continue his elite play, and given his confidence level, while playing behind his elite offensive line, that shouldn’t be an issue.
