Busch, 41, died of a “severe illness” however a specific cause of death has not been released. Busch is survived by his wife Samantha and their two children.
Busch became unresponsive while testing in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina, on Wednesday and was transported to the hospital, the Associated Press reported. Just 11 days before his death, he radioed crew members during a Cup Series race at Watkins Glen and asked a doctor to give him a “shot” when he finished the race.
Busch racked up 234 wins in his career, 20 of those at the Texas Motor Speedway in Forth Worth across NASCAR’s top three national series, which includes four Cup Series victories, 10 Xfinity (formerly Nationwide) Series victories, and six Truck Series victories, Yahoo Sports reported.
