EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — More than $1.8 million in state grant funding is headed to El Paso to support military families through parenting support, counseling, education, and youth development services.
Sen. César Blanco announced on Wednesday that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission has awarded the funding through the Texas Service Members, Veterans, and Families Program.
The funding was appropriated by the Texas Legislature during the 89th Legislative Session to help organizations provide services for families with children whose parents are active-duty service members, veterans, reservists, or members of the National Guard.
According to Blanco, two El Paso organizations received grant awards through the program:
Child Crisis Center of El Paso — $1,042,500El Paso Center for Children, Inc. — $825,000
“Our military families make tremendous sacrifices in service to our country, and it is important that we support them not only during deployment, but also at home and in their communities,” Blanco said. “These organizations provide critical services that help children and parents navigate challenges, strengthen family stability, and improve mental and emotional well-being. I am proud to see state funding invested directly into El Paso organizations that understand the needs of our military and veteran families and work every day to support them.”
