CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A trial date has been set on Friday for the two men charged in connection with the death of 11-year-old Amethyst Silva, who was struck by gunfire while celebrating New Year’s with her family outside an apartment complex in 2023.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, investigators said both men illegally fired weapons in the direction of several homes near the Allure Apartments on Everhart Road shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day.
Police said one of the bullets struck Silva while she was outside celebrating the holiday with family members.
Relatives said Silva collapsed and began bleeding moments after the gunfire. Her father, Robert Silva, rushed her to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The case has drawn attention across the Coastal Bend as Silva’s family continues seeking justice following the deadly shooting.
