EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso ISD has named Donica Pedregon as the new chief of police for El Paso ISD Police Services, making her the first woman to lead the department.
District officials said Pedregon brings more than 15 years of law enforcement experience to the role, including more than a decade with El Paso ISD Police Services.
The district said she is a U.S. Army combat veteran who has risen through the ranks while building a reputation for leadership, mentorship and a commitment to student safety.
It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as Chief of Police for the El Paso ISD Police Department,” Pedregon said. “My focus has always been, and will continue to be, protecting our students, staff, and community while supporting the dedicated men and women of this department. Together, we will lead with pride, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
Pedregon previously made history in 2021 as the department’s first female sergeant and again in 2024 as the district’s first female lieutenant. The district said she has emphasized service, trust and building positive connections with students and staff.
Since joining El Paso ISD Police Services in 2014, Pedregon has served in leadership and training roles, including field training officer and part-time instructor at the El Paso Community College Law Enforcement Academy, where she has helped mentor and train future law enforcement officers across the region.
The district said its police services officers serve not only as law enforcement professionals, but also as mentors, educators, counselors and first responders who help create safe and supportive learning environments.
“As someone who has risen through the ranks of this department, it is the honor of a lifetime to now lead the outstanding men and women of the El Paso ISD Police Department,” Pedregon said. “I am committed to supporting our officers while continuing to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and service to our schools and community.”
