Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us, and that means military festivities, barbecues and fun by the pool. The City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is opening seven outdoor pools starting this Saturday, May 23.
The following preseason pools will be open Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25:
The pools will operate from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Memorial Day weekend. They will also be open the same hours during the city’s pool preseason.
Pools are open to the public for free, but proper swimwear is required to enter.
The city is also hosting a free movie to celebrate pool season with a screening of Jaws at Woodlawn Lake at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 24. The event is first-come, first-served, and no registration is required.
If pools aren’t your thing, city splash pads are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are also free to the public. Here’s a list of city splash pads. You can also visit the indoor pool at the Atanacio Garcia Natatorium year-round.
Austinites, worry not, there are a few pools open in your area ahead of the summer season, too.
