Although a long drive might earn Brian Schottenheimer’s approval in AT&T Stadium, that isn’t the case for his commute.

The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is selling his home in McKinney to move closer to the team’s Frisco headquarters. The move is really about the location, said Carrie Himel, the listing agent of the McKinney home.

The home, at 6101 Crystal Cove Court, was listed for $3.8 million on April 17, according to Zillow. The McKinney home is in a cul-de-sac in the Stonebridge Ranch community. The home also now has a buyer, Himel said.

Schottenheimer’s previous drive to the headquarters would have been about 15 miles, over a 30-minute drive. 

As of Thursday, county records don’t show Schottenheimer buying a new home. The Collin County Appraisal District placed the McKinney home’s value at nearly $2 million for tax purposes.

The over 5,700-square-foot home is on an acre lot, which Himel said is rare for McKinney. 

“It’s a private, serene oasis,” Himel said. “Every window, or every space, in that house looks at nature. So it really is a special property, it just needed a special buyer. We’re fortunate to get one pretty quickly.”

The single-story estate built in 2021 has a courtyard with a fountain, a movie room and an infinity-edge pool, according to its listing. The home also has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a half bathroom and a three-car garage.

Schottenheimer was named as the head coach of the Cowboys in January 2025 after two seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator. As he enters his second year as head coach, part of a four-year deal, Schottenheimer has said he’s aiming for a Super Bowl.

During the Schottenheimer family’s time at the house, the property’s connection to nature has led to interactions with wildlife.

In October 2025, Schottenheimer said an owl had flown into his home while he was in a planning meeting ahead of a game against the Arizona Cardinals. The owl had flown through an open sliding door, and the family eventually had to call animal control to get the owl out of the house. He said he hoped the owl was a good omen following a different animal incident where two of the family’s dogs were bitten by a snake ahead of a victory against the New York Giants. The Cowboys lost to the Cardinals 17-27.

The Schottenheimer family bought the home in May 2025 from the previous owners through a trust, called Southern Grace Trust, managed by his attorney.
