Houston power outages: Nearly 42K customers have no power Saturday morning after severe storms

Over 700 lightning strikes reported during thunderstorms

Nearly 42,000 customers are without power Saturday morning after a severe round of thunderstorms rolled through Houston, Texas.

The storms generated more than 700 lightning strikes and loud thunder in the early morning hours of Saturday.

CenterPoint reports more then 40,000 without power and Entergy reports over 1,000 customers without power.

KPRC2’s weather team is tracking the storms and throughout Memorial Day weekend.

The biggest threat is the flash flooding possible after days of heavy rain this week.
