Thousands of CPS Energy customers in San Antonio are without power as storms continue moving through the area Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

A CPS Energy outage map shows that 2,616 customers are currently without power due to 62 active outages as of 10:21 a.m. Zip codes 78002 and 78009 are among the hardest hit, with more than 400 customers affected in each area, accoridng to CPS report. 

As outages continue to grow, CPS reports show more than 1,100 customers affected in San Antonio, along with nearly 500 each in La Coste, unincorporated Bexar County and the Castroville area.

The outages come as severe storms move through the San Antonio area Saturday morning, bringing heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. The National Weather Service says the main threats with the storms are hail and strong wind gusts, though localized flooding is also possible in areas seeing heavier rainfall.
