More than 10,000 without power across the Coastal Bend

More than 10,000 power outages hit the Coastal Bend amid storms, with Nueces County most affected. AEP Texas crews work on restoring power as rain persists.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — More than 10,000 outages reported as storms pass through the Coastal Bend Saturday afternoon. 

According to AEP Texas’s outage map, the largest number of outages was reported in Nueces County, where 7,649 customers were without power, with an estimated restoration time of 5:30 p.m.

Below is an outage breakdown as of 1:43 p.m. according to AEP:

Nueces County — 7,836 outages | Estimated restoration: 5:30 p.m.Bee County  — 177 outages | Estimated restoration: 4:30 p.m.Refugio County —  736 outages | Estimated restoration: 4:30 p.m.San Patricio County — 1,687 outages | Estimated restoration: 4:30 p.m.Aransas County — 250 outages | Estimated restoration: 4:30 p.m.Jim Wells County — 73 outages | Estimated restoration: 5 p.m.Live Oak County — 11 outages | Estimated restoration: 4 p.m.Duval County  — 27 outages | Estimated restoration: 5 p.m.

The outages come after several days of rain and thunderstorms across the Coastal Bend this week. Drivers are urged to use caution on wet roads and avoid flooded streets.
