Residents of the Seminary Hill area of south Fort Worth will soon benefit from improvements on 13 neighborhood streets and five alleys.
The estimated $16 million in upgrades will include water line replacements, new concrete pavement, driveways and sidewalks. Construction will start in June and continue through 2027.
The Seminary Hill project will affect the following streets:
West Boyce Avenue: East dead end to McCart Avenue
Cherokee Trail: West Seminary Drive to West Gambrell Street
Gordon Avenue: West Spurgeon Street to south dead end
Martin Lydon Avenue: Townsend Drive to James Avenue
Rector Avenue: West Seminary Drive to West Gambrell Street
Yates Street: West dead end to James Avenue
Wayside Avenue: West Boyce Avenue to Gambrell Street
Cockrell Avenue: West Seminary Drive to Morrell Street
West Seminary Drive: From 155 feet east of Rector Avenue to 160 feet west of Rector
West Spurgeon Street: Frazier Avenue to Stanley Avenue
Stanley Avenue: Martin Lydon Avenue to south dead end
Townsend Drive: Southcrest Drive to Yates Street
Frazier Avenue: West Spurgeon Street to the east

In a meeting of the Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department on May 6, Jose Orozco, a senior project manager for the city, led a presentation about the details and timelines of the upcoming construction.
The $16 million project is being paid for by a 2022 bond package and additional water department funds. It will not increase taxes. The extent of repairs on each street will depend on whether they are covered by the bond money or water department funds.
“Concrete curbs will be replaced on the bond-funded streets, and limited portions of the existing curb and gutter will be replaced within the water department-funded streets,” Orozco said. “If your driveway is to be replaced, the city will replace only the portion that is in the city right of way, not all the way up to your garage.”
Many alleys will receive upgrades. The city will work with homeowners to address any issues during construction, including getting access to properties and replacing damaged property. The city will take pictures and videos of properties before construction to document any damage caused by contractors.
The city will provide updated information on the project website and through project boards placed throughout the area. The city encourages residents to reach out with any questions or concerns through the contact information on the website or through the MyFW app.
