Central Texas’ latest and highly anticipated H Mart store could be mere weeks away from wrapping construction, according to updated project documents.
H Mart – a popular Korean supermarket and food hall chain offering both Korean and other Asian cuisines – first unveiled plans for its second location in Austin back in August 2023. Those project filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) outlined an estimated $4 million, 23,125-square-foot grocery store slated for 5222 Burnet Road, Suite 600, Austin, TX 78756.
Now, those project documents have been amended to reflect an anticipated construction completion date on May 31, 2026, per TDLR filings. The development’s latest status notes reviews of the site have been completed, inching it even closer to its long-awaited debut.
Earlier this spring, crews installed H Mart signage on both the building’s marquee and the store registry at the North Loop Plaza shopping complex. In early May, glass doors and windows had been installed near the entrance.

MySA reached out to H Mart officials on Thursday, May 21, regarding the updated project filings and a potential opening date timeline; in a response on Friday, May 22, company officials said they don’t have any details about a construction timeline or possible opening date at this time.
Looking outward across the Lone Star State, Texas is home to just seven H Marts concentrated in the Austin, Dallas and Houston metros, with Austin’s Burnet Road store marking the company’s eighth statewide and its second since the chain’s inaugural debut in the Texas capital back in February 2018. As for San Antonio? The Alamo City has yet to welcome its own H Mart store.
“We do receive a high volume of inquiries and enthusiasm from the San Antonio community, and it’s certainly an area we would love to be in at some point,” store officials told MySA in late November 2025. “There are many contributing factors and often long wait times involved in securing the right location for a new store, and these variables can influence our timeline. Unfortunately, for now, we don’t have any additional insights on our end.”
