Deadly crash claims life of Texas woman in Opelousas

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) — There was a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 190 near Jennings Road on May 22, that claimed the life of 19-year-old Courtney Hodge of Texas, officials said. Shortly after 3 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Kenworth Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) was traveling west on La.-190 approaching Jennings Road. At the same time, a 2025 Kia K4 was traveling west behind the CMV. The CMV began to slow as it was approaching a crossover.

For unknown reasons, the Kia failed to slow and rear-ended the CMV.
Hodge died at the scene, officials said. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Hodge and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
