BEDFORD – Josefina Simo passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 97. She was dearly loved and will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A private viewing for Josefina Simo will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76107. The entombment will take place Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77077. Josefina was born in Camagüey, Cuba, on June 5, 1929. She was a proud Catholic and spent her life living her faith. She was educated in Cuba and later became the heart of her home through years of steady love, patience, and care. On May 21, 1949, Josefina married Alberto Simo in Havana, Cuba-the love of her life and the kindest man she knew. Their marriage lasted 41 years, until Alberto passed away in 1990. Josefina remained devoted to her family afterward, raising her sons and cherishing the relationships she built over the years. Earlier on, she worked a few jobs to help provide, but most of her life she was a stay-at-home mom and housewife, just like her husband preferred. Her sons often spoke of how comforting it was to come home to Josefina’s love-and many days included a home-cooked meal after school and activities. Josefina loved to cook, especially traditional meals from her home country of Cuba. She also enjoyed music, was a talented dancer, and always took pride in how she looked. She was a good bowler and truly loved her animals. One of Josefina’s greatest gifts was how she made people feel valued. Whether someone was sick, struggling, or just needed support, she was there visiting, helping, and caring for things until things were better. Her home was always clean and beautifully arranged, with a warm, welcoming touch. Beyond family life, Josefina enjoyed getting out and being entertained. She liked the theater and symphonies, and she truly loved music of all kinds. She and her family also made lasting memories through travel, including trips to see performances with her son Alberto, outings to San Francisco and Branson, Missouri, and trips to Las Vegas with her son Peter to see famous shows. She also visited Florida, including time spent at Disney World. Josefina stayed active and worked hard to stay healthy for as long as she could. She went to the gym three times a week, and at age 67 she earned a first-place medal in the Senior Olympics-an achievement that reflected her determination and positive spirit. Josefina is survived by her son, Peter Simo of Grapevine, Texas, and his wife, Sandra; and by her grandson, Adam Simo of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto L. Simo (January 15, 1990) and by her son, Alberto M. Simo (November 27, 2025). Josefina will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and strength. Her family takes comfort in knowing God is caring for her now, and that she is in heaven, surrounded by angels.
