Conference title games are over, and the 29 championship winners will earn automatic bids into the field of 64. The other 35 teams will have to wait in anticipation to learn their postseason fate.
Texas baseball and Texas A&M are expected to be regional hosts because they are in the top 16 of the NCAA’s RPI rankings despite their early eliminations from the SEC Tournament. The Longhorns are fifth in RPI they are expected to host a super regional in Austin. Texas State is 43rd in RPI after losing to Louisiana in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament, putting them firmly on the bubble.
The Selection Show will start at 11 a.m. Monday and the NCAA Tournament will begin Friday.
Florida lands as the No. 8 seed, kicking A&M out of the top eight. This means the Aggies will not be hosting a potential super regional.
The Longhorns earn a top eight seed. They’ll open up against the Holy Cross Crusaders, the Patriot League champions. Tarleton State and UC Santa Barbara round out the group.
