On Monday, UT was awarded the No. 6 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament. Texas (40-13) was also assigned as the host of a regional that will include UC Santa Barbara (38-18), Tarleton State (37-19) and Holy Cross (25-28).
The Longhorns’ postseason run will get underway at UFCU Disch-Falk Field at noon on Friday against Holy Cross.
Regionals are double-elimination competitions. If Texas wins its regional, it will host a best-of-three super regional series against either No. 11 Oregon (40-16), Oregon State (43-12), Washington State (30-26) or Yale (30-13-1). The winners of the NCAA Tournament’s eight super regionals advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
This will be the 65th postseason appearance in UT’s storied history. The Longhorns, however, last reached the College World Series during the 2022 season, and Texas is looking for its first national championship since 2005.
