If your SNAP benefits or pay have been interrupted amid the government shutdown, the Houston Food Bank is offering relief through special food distributions.

Houston Food Bank says the federal government shutdown could affect thousands in its 18-county service area, including the more than 50,000 federal employees who missed their first paycheck on Oct. 24.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has confirmed that SNAP benefits, which are released on rolling dates of the month, will be delayed or canceled starting Nov. 1.

To remedy the troubles Houstonians are experiencing due to the federal government shutdown, the Houston Food Bank is holding a special distribution event at NRG Stadium on Saturday. To attend, families must register online before arriving to the event.

You may register by visiting the Houston Food Bank’s website.

In addition to the event at NRG Stadium, the Houston Food Bank is also holding special distribution events throughout southeast Texas.
