ARLINGTON, Texas — A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a Toyota Prius on Interstate 20 near Matlock Road on Monday afternoon, according to the Arlington Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:49 p.m. on May 25, 2026, to investigate the crash involving the bicyclist and the 2005 Toyota Prius. Preliminary findings suggest the bicyclist attempted to cross the interstate from south to north, prompting a passenger vehicle in the second lane to swerve to avoid a collision. The Toyota Prius, traveling behind, struck the bicyclist, stated the department.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Prius and other occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the press release.

Eastbound Interstate 20 was temporarily closed near Cooper Street as officers conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway. The investigation is ongoing, and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
