CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A pre-trial hearing was held for Eric Elias Rivera, the young man charged in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Robstown.

Police say Rivera is accused of shooting and killing the teen outside the Figueroa Square Apartments in what investigators believe was a money-related attack.

Rivera is currently charged with first-degree murder and remains out on bond as the case continues through the court system.

During the hearing, attorneys and the court discussed the status of the case as both sides continue preparing for future proceedings.

The shooting shocked the Robstown community when it first happened, especially because of the victim’s young age. Investigators have not released many additional details publicly about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

At this time, no official trial date has been set.

Court records show the case remains active as prosecutors continue pursuing the first-degree murder charge against Rivera.
