Well, so much for getting no-hit.
The Rangers‘ offense put on a clinic in the first inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Houston Astros, tagging starter Jason Alexander for eight runs on five hits. Texas’ division rival tossed a combined no-hitter against them the night before, the first in MLB since 2024.
For all the Rangers’ struggles hitting at Globe Life Field this season, they made the ballpark look like a sandbox for a half inning. Brandon Nimmo got things going with a single before Jake Burger drove in two runs with a base hit of his own. Evan Carter ripped a ball down the right field line that got past Christian Walker, a Gold Glove first baseman, for a triple to drive in two more.
Ezequiel Duran and Joc Pederson followed with two hard hit balls, including a three-run homer from the Rangers’ new leadoff hitter, to wrap things up and give Texas its biggest first inning since 2012. It’s safe to say the bats woke up after last night.
