LIVE RADAR: Heavy rain moving out of Houston this morning, but moderate rain remains

  • May 27, 2026

With the ground already saturated in many areas, the flood threat increases.

Heavy rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms are expected to move through the Houston area during the morning commute, potentially creating slick roads and isolated street flooding.

The heaviest activity is expected between about 4 a.m. and noon, with some areas seeing 1 to 2 inches of rain and isolated higher totals where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

Drivers should plan for reduced visibility, ponding on roads and slower travel times during the early morning hours. Forecasters say some storms could also bring gusty winds and frequent lightning before conditions gradually improve later this afternoon.
