KSAT 12 reporter and multimedia journalist Avery Everett announced her upcoming departure from the local TV station on Facebook, saying she’ll be leaving after “three unforgettable years.” In the post, she shared the news alongside photos from her tenure, including Fiesta at Market Square, a live stand-up, one of the historic missions, the KSAT 12 Storm Chaser car and more.
“This city welcomed me with open arms and gave me the opportunity to tell stories of resilience, celebration, heartbreak and hope,” she wrote in the Wednesday, May 27 post. “While I’m excited for what’s next, leaving this incredible community is not easy. A piece of my heart will always be here. I am so thankful for this place and for you.”
Everett, a Philadelphia native, joined the San Antonio ABC affiliate in May 2023, having previously worked at an NBC station in Missouri. According to the post, her last day at KSAT 12 will be Friday, June 5.
A spokesperson for the station told MySA, “Avery has been an integral part of KSAT12’s community success through the years.”
“Her hardworking mentality, alongside her amazing journalistic integrity, has brought real lasting impact to San Antonio and South Texas,” the spokesperson said. “We thank her for all her contributions to KSAT12 and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
There has been some musical chairs happening at the station recently, as KSAT 12 just added reporter Alexis Scott from Corpus Christi’s KRIS 6, reporter Hannah Gonzales from Fresno, California, station KSEE and veteran San Antonio investigative journalist Brian Collister. The additions come just a few months after the layoffs were confirmed in March.
