CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A Texas man responsible for a deadly shootout in Charlottesville’s Belmont neighborhood three years ago was sentenced Tuesday, May 26, to 10 years in federal prison.
Twenty-one-year-old Jordan Perez of Lackhart, Texas, conspired with others to kidnap, transport, and hold multiple victims at gunpoint for ransom that culminated in a deadly 2023 shootout.
Perez, along with 26-year-old Ricardo Ordaz of Cedar Creek, Texas, was smuggling an illegal immigrant to Charlottesville when a shootout occurred.
Ordaz was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison in January for his role in the conspiracy.
