A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms remains in the forecast Thursday for North Texas, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
The forecast calls for a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 87 and calm winds, according to the weather service.
The Wednesday evening radar showed the heavy storms that brought rain to North Texas overnight and into the morning had moved out of the immediate Dallas-Fort Worth area. While soils remain saturated after 1 to 3 inches of overnight rainfall, the overall severe weather and widespread flooding threats are now very low for most of the region, according to the weather service.
An earlier National Weather Service update said storms that develop could still produce locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning, though the overall severe weather threat remained low. Localized flash flooding could be possible where storms repeat or move slowly.
