The Rangers are giving away a replica of Nolan Ryan’s bloody jersey this weekend — here’s how to get one

The Ranger’s most iconic giveaway yet (in our opinion) will take place this weekend. Here’s how you can own a piece of Ranger’s history.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers will be giving away jerseys with replica stains that resemble the blood on Nolan Ryan’s uniform when he was hit by a ball 36 years ago.

Ryan was pitching against the Kansas City Royals when outfielder Bo Jackson hit the ball right back to the pitcher, striking him in the face. The Hall of Fame righty suffered a “gushing wound” on his lip, but stayed in the game to pitch seven innings as part of a 2-1 win.

To remember the iconic moment, the Rangers have created these jerseys with fake stains on them and will give them away on Friday, May 29th, when the Royals come back to Globe Life Field for a three-game series.

All fans who attend the May 29 game against the Royals at Globe Life Field will receive a replica of the bloodied jersey. This one isn’t limited to the first 10,000 or 5,000 fans like most giveaways.

They will also host a blood drive on the North Plaza outside of Texas Live! in partnership with Carter Bloodcare. Inside the stadium, the Budweiser Sky Porch Pregame Happy Hour will offer optional red-dyed beers before the game begins, aptly named “bloody brews.”

During the game, fans should have their makeup ready for the “bloody lip cam” for a chance to be shown on the Jumbotron.
