No. 13 Texas Tech faced Kansas State on the road on Saturday in Week 10 of the college football season, and after the Wildcats had the lead for most of the first half, the Red Raiders scored their first touchdown of the game to steal the lead. But it wasn’t the biggest lead possible in that moment after a very notable missed extra point attempt.

But let’s back up.

With Texas Tech trailing, 7-3, Red Raiders running back Cameron Dickey punched in a one-yard touchdown run up the middle to give his team a 9-7 advantage. So it was kicker Stone Harrington’s turn to take the field and try to push it to 10-7.

But when Harrington attempted his extra point, the ball hit the goalpost, setting off a gloriously thunderous and echoing doink. It’s a majestic doink and “a resounding miss,” as the broadcast described it.

It’s a beautiful sound and probably the best one we’ve heard in a while.
