The H-E-B store in Dallas is getting closer to a start, but it won’t happen overnight.
The Texas-based retailer will work on a right-turn lane near the store after it receives permits — and the hope is for that to begin in the fall, according to Mabrie Jackson, managing director of public affairs with H-E-B/Central Market. The start of construction on the store itself is likely in the spring of 2027.
The anticipated store will be the first H-E-B in Dallas after the City Council gave the green light for the project late last year. The roughly 10-acre site would land at the southeast corner of Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway, according to the agenda filing.
H-E-B continues to open new stores around the region as it ramps up competition against Kroger, Walmart and others in the grocery industry. Yet until now, its namesake brand has not opened a shop in Dallas even as it has added sites in cities such as Frisco, Plano and Rockwall.
Earlier this month, it opened its latest version in the Euless area, and there are plans for new sites, including in Garland.
The company also plans to add another one of its brands in Dallas with Central Market after it received approval from the city earlier this year. It’s set for Uptown near the busy corner of Lemmon and McKinney avenues.
