Calallen softball player Kylie Butcher has been named the Apple Dental Center Athlete of the Week after a putting together a memorable performance against Bullard in the Class 4A Division I state semifinals.
Butcher homered in both games against the Panthers and drove in five runs in the series.
Butcher received 17,276 votes, accounting for 55.02% of the total votes cast. Falfurrias baseball player Andre Cisneros finished second with 8,470 votes, and Orange Grove baseball player Matthew Martinez placed third with 2,684 votes.
Students can only be named Athlete of the Week once per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
