H-E-B still does not have a store in El Paso, and some locals have pushed for years to change that. El Paso has more than 680,000 residents and is the sixth most populous city in Texas. Still, a spokesperson said the challenge in opening there is supply chain, logistics, and distribution. H-E-B’s San Antonio headquarters and its largest warehouse are more than 500 miles away from El Paso. The chain also has stores in Midland, Odessa, and other far-out cities like Lubbock, plus dozens across the border in Mexico.
