An El Paso man is behind bars after deputies were notified that a semi truck driving west on Interstate 20 was reported stolen on Tuesday,  and a pursuit then followed.

According to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office Report,  a traffic stop was initiated on a driver later identified as Enrique Porras, who was reportedly driving a black 2026 Volvo that was reported stolen.

Deputies say a traffic stop was initiated, and Porras reportedly refused to get out of the vehicle and drove away from the traffic stop.

The report said that Porras allegedly drove several miles westbound on Interstate 20 before stopping and stepping out of the vehicle.

Authorities say law enforcement officers reportedly attempted to place Porras under arrest, where he actively resisted.

He was taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center and booked on charges of evading arrest and detention with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Porras is currently being held on a combined $28,000 bond at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
