It seemingly was a combination of things.
There’s no denying Kevin Durant and the Rockets are a good basketball team despite the .500 record they entered with. Houston led the league in offensive rating (125.2) and points scored (127.8) before facing Boston and likely maintained those statistical leads. After shooting 55 percent from the field (42-for-77), Durant and company certainly looked like an offensive deserving of them.
There’s also no denying the Celtics, playing on the second night of a back-to-back and having played five games in the last seven nights, were moving a tick slower. It looked like the Green were stuck in mud, analyst Brian Scalabrine summarized. Meanwhile, Houston took the hardwood after three days off.
The Rockets are good. The Celtics looked sluggish. Both things can be true.
