EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – For filmmaker Felipe Vargas, Stephanie Han’s rematch against Holly Holm was reason enough to head to El Paso this weekend. The director, who is currently promoting his horror film Hive, is among the many boxing fans traveling to the Sun City for Saturday’s WBA Lightweight World Championship showdown.
Vargas is currently featuring his daytime horror film “Hive,” which stars Mexican-American actress Xochitl Gomez.

Saturday’s WBA Lightweight World Championship bout has drawn boxing fans from across the country, including Vargas.

Vargas joined KTSM’s Diana Castillo on KTSM+ at 4 on Friday, May 29, where Castillo asked him to predict the winner of Saturday’s fight at the El Paso County Coliseum.

“You have to pick the hometown hero. Stephanie Han all the way,” Vargas said of the boxer, who also serves as an El Paso police officer. “I hope the fight goes all the way.”
Hive is available to stream on Tubi. The film will also be screened at the Philanthropy Theatre in El Paso on Sunday, May 31 at 3 p.m.
