A French-inspired mega mansion just outside Dallas owned by a legendary Houston hip-hop mogul has hit the market for $4.4 million. With six bedroom suites, a bowling alley and a 12-seat movie theater, the estate could easily double as a private resort-or a small amusement park.

About 25 miles east of Dallas in Heath, the mansion turns heads with its dramatic Corinthian columns and French chateau vibes. The 12,000-square-foot residence sits on more than five acres in one of the area’s most exclusive neighborhoods. It’s listed with Phil Owens and Heather Stevens of The Agency Frisco.

“I’ve sold a lot of homes in this price point over the last 18 years,” Owens told Chron. “This is by far the most unique one I’ve ever handled. The architecture, the scale, the land-it’s unlike anything else in North Texas.”

Prince, 60, is best known as the founder and CEO of Houston-based Rap-A-Lot Records, the pioneering label that helped shape Southern hip-hop. Under his leadership, Rap-A-Lot launched acts like the Geto Boys, Do or Die and UGK, and his influence reached far beyond Houston-he’s also credited as an early mentor to Drake. He also managed a couple of well-known boxers over the years-Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

He purchased the residence in 2019, according to property records. Texas is a non-disclosure state, so the sale price isn’t public, though the home was previously listed in 2018 for $2.75 million. Since January 2023, the property has been on and off the market several times-fluctuating between $4.3 million and $4.7 million-before returning this fall at its current price.

Completed in 2015, the French-inspired home spans more than 12,000 square feet and sits on 5.46 acres in one of Heath’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The mansion includes six bedrooms, a primary and first-floor in-law suite with direct access to a resort-style pool and spa. Owens described Heath as “the Beverly Hills of Rockwall County,” noting that “most homes out here sit on two or three acres-this one’s on 5.4. It’s totally private. You can’t see another house from the property.”

Prince, speaking through a family spokesperson, highlighted the property’s privacy. “I love the space to roam. The peace and more importantly the privacy it provides is my favorite thing about the property,” he said.

The house practically reeks of entertaining. Guests pull into a grand motor court, glide beneath a porte cochère, and step through wrought-iron double doors into a marble foyer crowned by a sweeping staircase. Inside, the home opens to a great room with soaring ceilings and walls of windows, a formal dining room built for dinner parties, and a sunlit library that spills onto a private balcony.

The chef’s kitchen is outfitted with black cabinetry, double ovens, a central island, and a breakfast area overlooking the pool.

Among the amenities are a billiards room, wine storage, a 12-seat movie theater, a two-lane bowling alley, elevator, and a safe room. There’s also parking for six cars and an emergency generator.

Outside, a separate 3,700-square-foot guest structure includes a gourmet kitchen, full bathroom, and additional garage space. The landscaped grounds feature a resort-style pool and spa, fire pit, and walking trails surrounded by mature trees.

“Around here, everyone still calls it Deion’s ex-wife’s house,” Owens said, referring to Pilar Sanders, ex-wife of NFL star Deion Sanders, who once lived there. “But really, it’s J. Prince’s house-and it’s become a bit of a legend in this community.”

A deeply-rooted Houston figure, Prince’s influence extends beyond music and real estate. In 2019, Texas Southern University awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for his contributions to business and the community. Prince has offered internships to TSU students, endowed a scholarship, and frequently speaks about perseverance and purpose.

“J. Prince is a Houston icon, and his connection to Texas Southern is strong,” then-TSU President Austin Lane said at the time. “Following one’s dreams, against all odds, leads to great things.”
