Texas Tech softball is back in action Saturday at the Women’s College World Series.
The 58-7 Red Raiders will play Tennessee, which stunned Texas to open the WCWS. TTU won the Big 12 regular season title but lost in the conference tournament. Since then, the Red Raiders have won regionals and super regionals while losing just once game. On Thursday, Tech took down Mississippi State, 8-0.

Tennessee (48-10) lost the first game it played in the SEC Tournament but is unbeaten since. That means All-American pitcher Karlyn Pickens and Co. haven’t lost in 23 days. Saturday’s game will be a national broadcast and the winner will be on the doorstep of the finals.

Bottom 6: Canady controls the Vols
Clarke grounded out to start the inning. A. Leach lined out but Williams dropped the ball, however, officials rule that she had it long enough for the second out. Butt struck out swinging.

Top 6: Knight shuts down a Red Raider threat
Halleman struck out but Williams sends a double deep into the gap. Davis hits a single that touches the grass and Knight’s throw to home for Morrison to tag Willaims is made for the second out. Texas Tech challenges that Williams was safe, but upon review, the call stands. Lis is walked and Davis moved to second. Burns popped out to end the inning.
Bottom 5: Tennessee takes a 1-0 lead
Holley’s solo shot gave Tennessee the lead on an 0-1 pitch. Knight grounded up to first and Morrison popped out to second. Dodge struck out to end the inning

Top 5: Pickens wins pitcher vs pitcher duel
Pannell grounded out to first and is 0-2 against her former team. Terry flied out to left field. Allred gets its first hit since the first inning on a single through to left-center field. Pickens struck out Canady swining for her fourth K of the night.
Bottom 4: Still scoreless
A. Leach reaches first on a fielding error. Butt struck out swinging and Morgan was caught stealing for the second out. G. Leach singled to center field. Faw popped up to end the inning.

Top 4: Tech offense stalls
ESPN will have limited coverage but are still battling with technical difficulties. Davis grounded out and Vols’ Dodge snags the ground out to retire Pickens’ ninth Red Raider. Clark scoops a short hop to get Lis streaking to first. Burns grounded out to end the inning.
Bottom 3: Tennessee leaves runner stranded, Canady comes in
Faw singled to first. Holley’s sacrifice bunt moves Faw into scoring position. Knight is hit by a pitch. Terry is relieved for Canady and Morrison fouled out to the catcher. Canady lets off a wild pitch and the runners move to second and third. Dodge is hit by a pitch, the second of the inning. Clark hit a popup to first and Lis still made the catch after colliding with her.

Top 3: Tennessee defense stalls Texas Tech batters
Quiroga lined out and Halleman grounded out to second base. Williams grounded out at third. Yes, ESPN is still coping with technical difficulties.
Bottom 2: Terry, Tech retires three straight Volunteers
Leach lined out to lead off the inning. Butt popped up and G. Leach lined out.

Pannell couldn’t get a good hit off her former teammate and popped up in the infield. Terry struck out swinging and Allred grounded out to end the inning.
Bottom 1: Red Raiders defense gets it done
Knight legs out a single and is safe at first. Morrison chases Terry’s riseball. Dodge reached first on a fielders choice but Knight is out at second. Williams lined out at second.

Top 1: Pickens, Tennessee in control
Pickens struck out the lead off batter, Williams. Davis hit a short infield single and Lis moved her on a ground out to the shortstop. Burns struck out swinging to give Pickens two K’s so far.
