HOUSTON — The Sam Houston bowling team stands in third following the second day of competition at the TRACK Kat Klash at Emerald Bowl on Saturday.

The Bearkats went 3-1 on day two to improve to 6-3 with 9,533 total pins. Wichita State and Louisiana Tech are in first and second heading into championship play Sunday.

Emily Hart had a solid showing Saturday. She was seventh in the individual standings with an average of 203.4 and a high score of 233. Breana Chewens was 14th with an average of 195.4 and a high game of 212.

“Execution is still haunting us a little and we had some great opportunities today to get pins back and we let repeatability be the better of us today,” head coach Brad Hagen said. “Our event is demanding, we have a great field year in and out, and execution is always key at our event. Keep it in play, be patient, and fill frames. Very simple but our minds need to stay simplistic as well.

“Our standards and expectations never change based on who’s on the team so no matter if you’re a first-year athlete or year three, approach everything head-on as we should. It’s a learning curve but again, the team is getting along great. We just need to get the errant shots cleaned up, and we’ll be in a great place.”

The TRACK Kat Klash will conclude Sunday at Emerald Bowl.
