Canyon Lake saw a modest but steady rise in water levels over the past week following a stretch of on-and-off showers across Central Texas, including a midweek storm system that triggered flood watches across the region.

That marks a gradual rise from 58.7% one week ago (May 22), with only incremental daily gains since then. On May 27, nearly 0.5 inches of precipitation was recorded in parts of the watershed, helping push inflows higher temporarily.
Inflow has responded to the recent rainfall, measured at roughly 427 cubic feet per second (cfs) on early May 29, while outflow remains controlled at about 93 cfs, indicating the system is retaining more water than it releases. No surcharge release has been recorded.
While the midweek storm system was strong enough to trigger flood watches across Central Texas, it did not produce a major spike in reservoir levels at Canyon Lake. Instead, the lake’s response has been muted, suggesting localized rainfall rather than widespread watershed inflow.
Looking at the broader context, Canyon Lake remains well above last year’s levels, when it sat at 45.4% full at this time in 2025. However, it is still below its late-fall highs, when storage peaked above 63% following wetter seasonal conditions.
For now, the reservoir remains in a slow, stable pattern, supported by intermittent spring rainfall but without the sustained inflow needed for rapid recovery.
