EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County wants the community to get involved in its plans to renovate Ascarate Park.
The County will host a third community meeting on the Ascarate Park Renovations Project.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 2 at the Ascarate Park Pavilion, 6900 Delta Dr.
The meeting will provide an update on public feedback gathered during the first two community meetings, including survey results, key themes, and community priorities that have helped shape the project.
Residents will also have the opportunity to review the final concepts for proposed bond-funded improvements and learn about the anticipated benefits for park users and the surrounding community, the County said.
County officials and project consultants will also discuss the current condition of the park’s small lake and explore a long-term vision for its future.
Community members are encouraged to participate in the discussion and provide additional input as the project moves forward.
The Ascarate Park Renovations Project is one of the first major initiatives funded through Proposition A of the 2024 General Obligation Bond. Planned improvements include a new park entrance, restoration of the lake shoreline and island, expanded trails, accessible amenities, a dedicated festival area, and upgraded infrastructure.
In the November 2024 general election, El Paso County voters approved three propositions from the Capital Improvement Bond Program: Proposition A for parks and recreation improvements, Proposition B for a new medical examiner facility, and Proposition E for the County’s first dedicated animal shelter. Together, these projects represent a $155 million investment in community spaces, public health, and animal welfare, the County said.
