Dust advisory issued for Eddy County and southwestern Texas

The National Weather Service has issued dust storm advisories until 7:30 p.m. Sunday for Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico and northeastern Culberson County in southwestern Texas.Around 5:54 p.m., a wall of dust was along a line extending from 19 miles northeast of Loving, to near Malaga, to 24 miles west of Orla, moving northwest at 30 mph.Travel may be hazardous in areas including U.S. Routes 285 and 62/180. Blowing dust will reduce visibility, creating dangerous driving conditions. If caught in dense blowing dust, drivers should pull off the road, turn off the vehicle’s lights, and keep their foot on the brake.Locations impacted include Carlsbad, Artesia, Hope, Loving, Avalon, Seven Rivers Airport, Malaga, Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad North, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Whites City, Lincoln National Forest, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Queen, Artesia Municipal Airport, Otis, Cavern City Air Terminal, Living Desert State Park, Dayton, and Lakewood.
