CINCINNATI – Senior Alana Torres-Rivera recorded 24 digs as Houston Volleyball fell in three sets to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon.
 
The match marked Torres-Rivera’s third straight with 20-or-more digs and seventh in a row with double-digits in the category. Senior Aidan Conner led Houston (8-14, 1-10 Big 12) with six blocks while Bre Reid paced the Cougars with nine kills.
 
Cincinnati (12-8, 4-6 Big 12) started the match strong, winning 12 of the first 17 points. Houston answered with a 9-1 run later in the frame to close the gap, but the Bearcats hung on to win the frame, 25-22. 
 
Neither team was able to gain a foothold early in the second, evenly splitting the first 22 points. The Cougars used a 3-0 run to take the lead, but a 6-0 run put Cincinnati back in front, allowing it to win the frame, 25-22. 
 
The Bearcats kept the momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 6-4 lead. Houston responded with a 4-0 run to take a 12-11 lead. The Bearcats reclaimed the advantage at 15-14, stringing together runs to win the set, 25-17.
