The spring showers aren’t over just yet in Texas. As above-average temperatures return to seasonal norms over the course of this upcoming week, the potential for thunderstorms will also be on the rise for parts of Texas.
There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms across parts of the Texas Panhandle on Monday and into Monday evening. The best chance for storms will be in the northeastern Panhandle, especially after 7 p.m. While most storms are expected to remain below severe limits, a few could produce large hail and damaging winds, according to NWS.
Rain chances will increase, peaking in the Amarillo region on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. Severe storms will be possible during this time frame as well, but confidence in widespread severe storms is low at this time.
Storms in Central, North Texas
Isolated thunderstorms (20-30% coverage) are possible across portions of North and Central Texas by mid-week, with more scattered storms (40-60%) by the week’s end, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms will be scattered, with chances of rain likely in the evenings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Not al locations will see rain every day; however, any areas that do experience multiple rounds of heavy rain may be at risk for flooding. A few strong storms will also be possible with gusty winds and small hail as the main threats.
In the San Antonio-Austin region, warm, dry conditions will take over Sunday night and Monday before rain chances return Tuesday and continue for the rest of the week, according to the NWS.
There will be a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. in Central Texas. Chances of rain increase throughout the week, with the highest on Friday and Saturday.
