Houston’s Pride Festival and Parade is moving to the first weekend of June this year.
Pride Houston 365 shifted the 2026 celebration to June 6 because of FIFA World Cup events expected later in the month. The move marks the first time in the organization’s history that the parade will take place at the beginning of Pride Month instead of its usual late June date. Here’s everything to know before you go.

Houston’s Pride Parade brings thousands of people downtown each year for a day of floats, performances, music and celebration across the city’s LGBTQ+ community.
Pride Houston 365 describes the event as the largest Pride celebration in the South, bringing together hundreds of participating groups ranging from grassroots organizations and performers to major companies and community vendors. This year’s theme is “Limitless.”

Houston’s Pride celebrations date back decades, with some of the city’s earliest LGBTQ+ marches taking place in the 1970s following the Stonewall uprising in New York, a pivotal moment in the national LGBTQ+ rights movement.
According to Houston LGBT History, Houston’s first official Pride Parade was held in Montrose on July 1, 1979. The event ended with a rally at Spotts Park that included music, speeches, dancing and fireworks.
Before that, the University of Houston Gay Activist Alliance organized an earlier Pride march in 1976. Several hundred people marched down Main Street before gathering in Montrose for a post-parade “Gayfest.”
Over the years, Houston Pride has grown from a neighborhood march into one of the city’s largest annual celebrations.

The Houston Pride Parade takes place from 7 to 10 p.m., starting at Smith and Lamar streets near City Hall. The route heads north on Smith, turns right on Walker, and continues to Milam. The parade is free and open to all ages along the downtown route.
The Houston Pride Festival begins at 11 a.m. at City Hall and will feature vendors, community organizations and food, with Big Freedia serving as host and entertainment including DJ Whitney Day, Dawn Richard and other performers.
General admission festival tickets start at $17.34 with fees, while children 12 and under and seniors 60 and older can attend for free. VIP tickets start at $200 plus fees and include access to viewing areas, lounges, food and drinks.

Who are this year’s Grand Marshals?

Pride Houston 365 named 11 Grand Marshals for its 2026 celebration, including 10 individuals and one organization.
Honorees include Heavy Hitters (Organization), Mandy Giles (Ally), Ashley Barnes (Female Identifying), Flawless Oz (Gender Non-Conforming/Non-Binary), Dr. Roy Rivera Jr. (Male-Presenting), D’Trique Fitzgerald (Trendsetter), and distinguished honorees Jack Berger, Brad Pritchett, Judy Reeves, Kennedy Loftin and Carl Han. Loftin and Han will be honored posthumously.

For those unable to attend, the Houston Pride Parade will be broadcast live on ABC13 (KTRK-TV) starting at 7:30 p.m.
