After long car rides to and from work or hours spent in that Texas heat, we all look for some place to cool off and maybe enjoy some fun and games. As kids, this sometimes meant trips to Chuck E. Cheese or Peter Piper Pizza. For adults, massive food and entertainment centers like Dave & Buster’s offer a new escape for libations and fun.
Dave & Buster’s, the Dallas-based restaurant and entertainment chain, is about to celebrate its 44th birthday and in that time has opened more than 160 locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada and Australia. Yet while Texas has numerous venues across the state, West Texas has been left bone dry…until now.
Midland Westridge LLC received approval from Midland’s Planning and Zoning Commission in April to sell alcoholic beverages at a future Dave & Buster’s in the West Texas city. That approval paved the way for the new entertainment venue, which, on Wednesday, May 27, filed a $7.55 million construction outline with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
The TDLR calls for new construction on Deauville Boulevard in Midland. The Midland Telegram-Reporter previously reported the address as 6023 Andrews Highway, which is in the same area as Deauville Boulevard. All TDLR filings are preliminary and subject to change, hence the address confusion.
Construction is expected to begin on August 17 and is aiming to be completed by July 2, 2027. Once finished, a 25,000-square-foot Dave & Buster’s will finally be up and running in West Texas. Previously, fans would’ve had to drive over two hours to Lubbock in order to party at a Dave & Buster’s.
