Frisco has been ranked the safest city in the United States for nighttime residential safety, according to new data from Vivint. The city reported the lowest overnight burglary rate among 100 of the country’s largest cities, putting it at number one in the study.

The findings draw on crime data sourced from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, focusing specifically on residential break-ins occurring during overnight hours. In Frisco, the rate came in at just 5.9 burglaries per 100,000 residents, placing it first overall among all cities reviewed.

The rankings were built using reported incidents compiled through federal crime reporting channels, with the analysis filtering specifically for residential burglary activity during overnight hours. While the dataset does not account for every variable that can influence crime rates, it provides a focused snapshot of how frequently homes are targeted while residents are asleep.

Safety After Dark, By The Numbers

The Vivint analysis was designed to isolate a specific slice of property crime focused on break-ins occurring while residents are most likely to be asleep. By narrowing the focus to overnight incidents, the study aimed to highlight how different cities perform when homes are most vulnerable.

Across the 100 cities included, Frisco’s rate was the lowest recorded, positioning the North Texas suburb as an outlier even among other high-performing communities.

Frisco was not the only North Texas city to land near the top of the list. The region showed up repeatedly in the upper tier of the rankings, with McKinney placing sixth and Plano rounding out the top 10.

A Clear Outlier

The difference between Frisco and higher-rate cities is stark when placed side by side. While Frisco recorded fewer than 6 overnight burglaries per 100,000 residents, several major metropolitan areas reported rates more than 30 times higher.

That gap is what ultimately pushed Frisco to the top of the list, distinguishing it not just within Texas, but across every city included in the study.

As suburban growth continues across North Texas, the findings add another data point to an ongoing conversation about how rapidly expanding cities are managing safety, development and quality of life at scale.
