AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Several agencies and entities in the Texas Panhandle have been impacted by the federal government shutdown, which began Oct. 1.

Support
While the shutdown continues, some area organizations have stepped up to support to federal workers.
Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle
Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle announced at the beginning of the month that it opened the doors to its InterFaith Hunger Project to furloughed employees.
Federal workers interested in visiting the store are asked to bring a valid government ID and proof of furlough.

Amarillo National Bank
Amarillo National Bank announced Oct. 14 that it would offer forbearances on mortgage payments for up to six months or until the government shutdown ends.
All installment loan customers impacted by the shutdown will be able to defer the next schedule payments.
The bank also said for credit cards, it would defer the next payment and waive the interest accrued to that payment date.
