The electronics giant is leaving New Jersey for North Texas, eight months after opening a new campus there
Samsung Electronics America is relocating its U.S. headquarters to Plano by the end of 2026. The company notified employees on May 29 and issued an official statement on June 1. More information is expected in the coming days.
The move adds another major corporate name to a North Texas corridor that has spent the last several years pulling in companies from both coasts. For Plano specifically, it continues a run of high-profile arrivals that has quietly made the city one of the more significant corporate addresses in the country.
Eight Months After A Grand Opening
The timing is striking. Samsung hosted a grand opening at its new Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey campus on Sept. 22, 2025. Eight months later, the company announced it would be leaving.
It marks the second time in less than a year that Samsung has moved its American headquarters, a pace of relocation unusual even by the standards of a corporate landscape that has shifted considerably toward the Sun Belt in recent years.
What It Means for Employees
According to Tech Times, about 1,000 workers at the Englewood Cliffs campus are now weighing their options: relocate to Texas or lose their jobs. It’s the kind of decision that has become familiar to employees of major corporations making the move south — a forced choice between uprooting and unemployment.
Samsung has not yet confirmed where in Plano the new facility will be located, though the company said it hopes to have the space open by the end of this year.
For North Texas, the arrival of Samsung’s American headquarters is another data point in a relocation story that shows little sign of slowing down.
