LONDON (WKRC) – A British family featured on the reality TV show “22 Kids and Counting” has been fined for taking several of their children out of school for a trip to Disney World earlier this year.
Noel and Sue Radford, stars of the series, were fined 65 (about $86 USD) per child — a total of 260 ($346 USD) — and ordered to pay 118 (about $157 USD) in court costs after failing to ensure regular school attendance for four of their children between March 24 and May 1.
The family’s trip to Orlando, Fla., which included visits to Walt Disney World, was shared on Instagram.
The U.K. Department for Education introduced fines for unauthorized school absences last year, stressing the importance of consistent attendance for students’ well-being and academic performance.
“Ensuring young people receive a good education and have a good start in life is one of our key priorities,” a Lancashire County Council spokesperson said.
The Radfords, who have 22 children and 13 grandchildren, first rose to fame in 2012 with the documentary series “15 Kids and Counting.”
